I have worked on developing this site since 2009 when it was just a few informational pages. Behnkes has several well respected and trained horticulturists on their staff that contribute to an excellent wide ranging garden blog. This is an example of what a website can become with a lot of input by several authors. The site is updated several times a week with new blog posts as well as a weekly sales page, events and workshops.
The site does not have any ecommerce capabilities since the focus is to drive foot traffic to their retail sales store. With thousands of pages indexed by google, this site does an excellent job of keeping it’s readers engaged and looking forward to making a trip to their store.
Since online gardening traffic can come from all parts of the world, Behnkes has partnered with, and drives traffic to a few garden gift sites that offer drop shipping all over the United States as well as their own separate Shopify based ecommerce site.
